BURSA MALAYSIA: KL Shares End Morning Mixed, Bumi Armada Soars On Debut
KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session mixed Thursday in cautious trade amid worries over US and European debt woes, while Bumi Armada soared on its main market debut.
Bumi Armada ended the morning session RM1.01, or 33.33 per cent, higher at RM4.04. It was most active stock with 233.379 million shares traded.
It debuted at RM3.65, a premium of 62 sen over its initial public offering price.
A dealer said the market, along with regional peers, was still affected by problems in Europe and US.
He said the KLCI was expected to remain steady, helped by selective buying but the overall tone would be cautious.
At 12.30pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 0.18 point at 1,562.77. It opened 1.04 points higher at 1,563.63.
The FBM Emas Index rose 8.71 points to 10,719.73, FBM Mid 70 Index expanded 48.87 points to 11,689.74 and the FBM Ace Index added 29.23 points to 4,143.98.
The Finance Index increased 31.31 points to 14,749.99 and the Industrial Index was 5.47 points higher at 2,856.01.
The Plantation Index, however, lost 1.21 points to 7,789.95
The overall market breath was mixed with losers led gainers by 326 to 256, 299 other counters unchanged and 616 untraded.
Turnover stood at 698.883 million shares worth RM1.428 billion.
Apart from Bumi Armada, other actives included Ingenuity Solution, which added a sen to 10.5 sen, Ariantec shed half sen to 3.5 sen, Flonic Hi-Tech rose half sen to 15.5 sen and Hubline was unchanged at 9.0 sen.
Among blue-chips, Gamuda rose eight sen to RM3.71, MMC Corp added four sen to RM2.81, CIMB was unchanged at RM8.53 and Petronas Chemical shed a sen to RM7.09.
