Google team up with TM !!

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- In a move to support Malaysian small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) to grow their business internationally, Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has partnered Google to offer online marketing solutions to SME customers.

TM Executive Vice-President for SMEs Azizi A. Hadi said the collaboration would see TM offering Google's search advertising platform and Google AdWords services to its local SME customers.

Currently, TM has about 68,000 broadband customers under the business solution category who would be entitled under the partnership, he said.

Google AdWords is a service that allows businesses to create and run advertisements quickly and with ease on Google sites as well as on Google's partner websites.

AdWords uses a pay-per-click model which means advertisers only pay when advertisements are clicked.

"We are not expecting to derive any income or broaden our SME customer base from this partnership. It's part of our loyalty programme to help SME customers to put their advertisements online," he told reporters after the partnership signing ceremony with Google here today.

Through this one-year collaboration, TM's selected SME customers would receive Google AdWords marketing coupons worth between RM150 and RM500, to start an online marketing campaign as reward for their loyalty to TM, Azizi added.

Meanwhile, Google Inc Country Business Head Sajith Sivanandan said there were tremendous potential for businesses locally to go global with the help of Google's tools, reach and expertise.

"This is part of our efforts to increase our outreach to SME communities to come online as well as contribute to the country's economy," he said.
