FMH Targets 15 Per Cent Revenue Contribution From Its 3PL Division
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- Freight Management Holdings Bhd (FMH), an international multimodal freight and logistics services provider, is aiming to get 15 per cent revenue contribution annually from its third-party logistics and warehousing (3PL) division.

Group managing director, Chew Chong Keat, said the segment currently contributed between 12 and 15 per cent of the company's total revenue, while its core freight services businesses accounted for 60 per cent.

The company's wholly-owned unit Citra Multimodal Services Sdn Bhd today inked a 3PL and a procurement agreement with Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd.

Under the agreements, Citra will provide warehousing services as well as freight and customs clearance services to Shell Malaysia, mainly for its lubricants.

There is growing trend for producers to outsource non-core and important functions such as logistics to third-party specialists to enable them to focus on their core activity, Chew said at a press conference following the signing of the deal.

Both contracts are for four years.

"The contracts will bring a significant growth in our 3PL business," Chew said, adding that this was a multi-million ringgit agreement, but the details on the yield could not be disclosed.

Chew said FMH will focus on the 3PL and warehousing division due to the rising demand for the services, adding that it will also help the company to minimise the impact of the potential slowdown in the global economy.

On the impact on logistics industry following the debt problem in the United States and euro zone, Chew said the impact will not be great as FMH's core focus was in Southeast Asia and Far East.

"We have presence in the North America and Europe. However, the exposure is not significant. Over 85 per cent of our activities are domestic and focussed on Southeast Asia and the Far East including Australia and New Zealand," he added.
